Our lovely cottages are having a makeover - hurrah! We have been increasingly aware that our slightly outdated heating system is not very eco friendly and also not very economical.

We are very lucky to have a beautiful woodburner in the sitting room of Rose Cottage, whilst this is a good solution it does not heat the other rooms in the cottages. As such we have been thinking about how to improve the heating of our rather large and very old cottages.
We have settled on an underfloor heating system which will be fed by a ground source heat pump. We will be able to keep the cottages super cosy and warm from the bottom upwards. I also think that our guests will love having warm toes on the heated floors.

We have also decided to replace all of the windows and doors in order to keep this lovely warmth in. We have new and very pretty windows going into all of the cottages this month, they will look very smart but will also increase the energy efficiency of the cottages.

When you love having lots of guests to stay it is hard to see the cottages closed, especially at this lovely time of year when the cold crisp days provide the perfect weather for walking and exploring but I know that next winter we will be so grateful for the warmth.
