July 2020
Well, what a crazy week it has been! Like the rest of the country, and much of the world, I have been in lockdown on the farm with my husband, Sam and two children Herbie and Pippa since mid March. Whilst we are very lucky to be in splendid isolation on our hill looking out over the fields it still came as a bit of a shock.

With a full calendar of bookings, a new cleaning team, newly refurbished cottages and a fresh website I was forced to close our beautiful cottages for three months. Of all the changes over the past few months I have found this the hardest to bear, and that is being said with two school age children at home! But here we are, possibly coming out the other side, blinking into the bright sunshine and getting our lovely cottages ready to welcome our first guests on the 17th July.

Throughout the past few months I have found endless solace in my vegetable patch, somehow the unchanging cycle of planting and harvesting is very comforting at the moment. As a result of plenty of sunshine and a touch of rain the countryside is looking luscious and completely stunning. The crops are ripening in the fields and Sam is getting excited for that first day of harvest after watching everything growing for months.

I have spent today planting up all of the hanging baskets, window boxes and troughs outside the cottages, ordering new garden furniture and sprucing up the big garden ready for our guests. I can’t wait to see families enjoying our little slice of the countryside again and will never again take any of the fun of running these cottages for granted!
