Walk

Newfield Farm is the best place to be if you love to go walking. There is a large OS Map in the entrance hall of Rose Cottage with all footpaths, bridleways and cycle tracks clearly marked. This map is also handy for plotting circular walks taking in the wonderful Dorset pubs including the Langton Arms in Tarrant Launceston, The Museum Inn in Farnham, The King John Arms in Rushmore, the Anvil Inn in Pimperne and many more.

If you are in need of some inspiration we have put together a list of our favourite Dorset rambles;

  • The Wessex Ridgeway – a beautiful ridge-top route crossing through Dorset’s rural heartland. Take in amazing scenery and look out for one of our other farms, a dairy with fields right at the top of the downs between Shaftesbury and Salisbury.
  • The North Dorset Trailway – a purpose built track following the old Somerset and Dorset Railway passing through many villages and towns. Many of the old stations have been renovated making for great pit stops for coffee and ice cream along the way!
  • The Dorset Jubilee Trail – a quiet and little know trail passing many churches, winding through quiet villages an over rolling hills, absolutely beautiful.

Cycle

Are you an enthusiastic cyclist or just a beginner getting to grips with time in the saddle. We are the perfect choice for a cycling holiday whatever level you are. With plenty of off road tracks for those into mountain biking or smooth paths for those with road bikes we can provide all that you need for a great time out with your bike.

Happy guests
“'Hi Anna  - just to thank you so much for our fantastic weekend in your cottages.  We had a great time – the accommodation contained all of us + the dogs; the food on our first night was delicious; our second night which was the celebration for John’s 70th went so well with a table that could fit 20 of us and then the sitting room area where we could hold our ‘performances’ and quiz for him – many lovely memories. I love that part of Dorset – I was brought up in Salisbury with grandparents in Bournemouth and aunt, uncle, cousins in Southampton, so it all felt very familiar. We would love to come back one day – everyone thought it was great.  I’ll put something on TripAdviser. Good to meet you albeit briefly.  Hope we left everything in good order. Best wishes Ro and family'”

“An absolutely fantastic holiday property. The perfect size and layout for 18 people.   Highly recommend having an evening meal made for you by Anna. Plenty enough to go around and to a high standard. Made life so much easier!!   Everyone enjoyed their time. This place is definitely one to stay at”

“Lovely cottages, we had a brilliant holiday. You could easily have 20 adults and have plenty of space inside and out. The local pub, The Anvil was a 40 minute stroll, you could go cross country or road, decent food and the staff very proactive with Covid precautions. Cottages all clean on arrival, with Covid paperwork. Felt clean, safe and welcoming. This property is rural and on a working farm which was lovely and well kept. Lots to do locally, cider farm, brewery in Blandford, National Trust properties and lots more - really good location. I would recommend this property and hope to return. ”
